ANDREA GALLO
Andrea Gallo was born in Cosenza in 1975 and holds a degree in Entertainment Design from the Academy of Digital Arts in Florence. His work has been exhibited in prestigious public spaces including the Diocesan Museum in Cosenza and the Complesso Valentianum in Vibo Valentia, and in 2015 he won the Young At Art painting prize organized by the Contemporary Art Museum in Acri. Paintings by Gallo are to be found in the permanent collections of the Roberto Bilotti Ruggi d’Aragona Museum of Contemporary Art in Rende and the BoCs Art Museum in Cosenza.
In his layered oil paintings, Gallo creates imaginary stories, putting into play characters and objects from historically and culturally different situations and contexts. Inspired by images selected from photographic archives, his subjects are cleverly reworked to create freely interpretable visual enigmas.
