Von Buren Contemporary is delighted to present Sweet Dreams, the solo exhibition of award-winning Italian artist Lucia Simone.
Sweet Dreams showcases six years of research by the 39-year-old Simone, who only recently joined the gallery’s roster of artists.
Simone’s disturbing, visionary oil paintings are a knotty elegy to youth. Her exploration of the boundaries between waking and the unconscious, memory and imagination, invite the viewer to enter a world suspended between dream and reality where existential dilemmas stemming from solitude, identity and mental anguish are never far from the surface.
Lucia Simone, born in Perugia in 1986, is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome where she specialised in Painting and Engraving. Simone has won prizes for her emotionally-charged works and has exhibited widely in galleries and museum spaces in Italy and abroad. In 2025, one of her drawings was selected to illustrate an article in the French newspaper, Le Monde.
VBC ArtLab is the newly-opened second art space of Von Buren Contemporary dedicated to events, presentations, art lessons and workshops.
